After John showed his first 4-H steer at the age of ten, he was hooked.  He would never again be content showing just swine. We noticed that one particular competitor won the shows on a regular basis and that his steer had a particular look about it that the rest of the calves in the Santa Barbara County show couldn’t compete with. 

After asking a lot questions we found that John’s competition cattle were purchased outside the state of California.  We broadened our horizons and found that there was a world of cattle “out there” that California had no knowledge of.

The dream began! John studied and he and his dad purchased a few good heifers to start a herd.  Their goal was to raise cattle good enough to compete anywhere in the United States.  They also wanted to provide 4-H and FFA exhibitors quality cattle at reasonable prices. The dream grew into the Teixeira Cattle Company and their goal is still the same.

When John and Heather were married, she captured the vision and has been John’s “right-hand woman” since. Heather does all the A-I and together they manage a herd of 165 cows.  Part of the dream is to breed and raise all cattle we sell at our annual auction. John and Heather's two boys love the cattle almost as much as their Mom and Dad…the first sound either of the boys made was “mooooo”.

Allan and Cee (John’s mom and dad) are still involved, but primarily under the direction of John and Heather. Nana would rather watch Nathan and Joseph and cook while everyone else works the cattle anyway!

We raise everything we sell, allowing us to keep prices affordable for the exhibitor. We feel our most important asset is honesty. We will treat you with the same consideration we desire ourselves.
